Originally from China and now based in Los Angeles, Yuwei Zhang is a filmmaker and writer whose work centers on emotionally resonant, character-driven storytelling. Her films explore themes of identity, disconnection, and transformation, often through a visually distinct and poetic lens.

Her most recent short film, One of Those Nights, premieres at the Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival. Her previous works have screened at over a dozen festivals worldwide.

Yuwei holds an MFA in Narrative Directing from UCLA (2024), and a background in cognitive science and visual arts. She draws on this foundation to craft layered stories that speak to both the emotional and the existential. In addition to narrative filmmaking, she has experience directing branded content and episodic formats.
